I'm quiet surprised to discover that the bug I'm facing is 14 years old... Hopefully it will be solved some day. On Gnome, would a gnome extension creating a "close Firefox and shutdown button" work ? What would be the command? quit Firefox && sleep 5 && shutdown - h now? I don't know how to "quit" properly Firefox with a command line...
