The autostart file uses a gsettings key - this will prevent the app
running unless that key is enabled through a shortcut.   This assumes
you are running a gsettings enabled desktop environment like Mate,
Budgie or GNOME-Shell.

Possibly there should be a "OnlyShowIn=Budgie;GNOME;Mate" type clause in
the autostart file.
