Public bug reported: Before the upgrade to 20.04, I was able to use brz-debian to make Debian packages from their tarballs using "bzr dh-build <version> <source>.tar.gz" successfully without it crashing. Since 19.10 will end support after less than two months, I have upgraded to 20.04 LTS a month ago, and it went smooth until I tried to run the same command used for building the Debian packages. When I run it, it now crashes with AttributeError in create(). Also, it has created an empty folder where the source code should reside. I have expected the command to complete successfully without crashes after an upgrade to 20.04 LTS. When I looked up what this error means, it seems that the program tries to call "initialize_on_transport" on "NoneType" in line 859 in controldir.py. The stack trace tells the rest. lsb_release -rd: Description: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Release: 20.04 apt-cache policy brz brz-debian: brz: Installed: 3.0.2-4ubuntu2 Candidate: 3.0.2-4ubuntu2 Version table: *** 3.0.2-4ubuntu2 500 500 http://sy.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status brz-debian: Installed: 2.8.32ubuntu1 Candidate: 2.8.32ubuntu1 Version table: *** 2.8.32ubuntu1 500 500 http://sy.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status By the way, I'm running Python 3.8.2 installed from official Ubuntu repositories: python3: Installed: 3.8.2-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 3.8.2-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 3.8.2-0ubuntu2 500 500 http://sy.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: brz ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-31.35-generic 5.4.34 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-31-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27 Architecture: amd64 BrzDebugFlags: set() BrzVersion: 3.0.2 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CommandLine: ['/usr/bin/bzr', 'dh-make', 'core-setup', '3.0.0.2019.04.16.02.13-0xamarin4+ubuntu2004b1', '3.0.0.2019.04.16.02.13-0xamarin4.tar.gz'] CrashDb: brz CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Thu May 21 13:03:30 2020 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/brz ExecutableTimestamp: 1582014299 FileSystemEncoding: utf-8 InstallationDate: Installed on 2019-07-21 (304 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 19.10 "Eoan Ermine" - Alpha amd64 (20190715) InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python3.8 Locale: en_US.UTF-8 PackageArchitecture: all Platform: Linux-5.4.0-31-generic-x86_64-with-glibc2.29 ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/python3 /usr/bin/bzr dh-make core-setup 3.0.0.2019.04.16.02.13-0xamarin4+ubuntu2004b1 3.0.0.2019.04.16.02.13-0xamarin4.tar.gz Python3Details: /usr/bin/python3.8, Python 3.8.2, python3-minimal, 3.8.2-0ubuntu2 PythonDetails: N/A PythonVersion: 3.8.2 SourcePackage: brz Title: brz crashed with AttributeError in create(): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'initialize_on_transport' UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserEncoding: utf-8 UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo wireshark modified.conffile..etc.apport.crashdb.conf: [modified] mtime.conffile..etc.apport.crashdb.conf: 2020-05-21T13:03:19.201488 ** Affects: breezy (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: New ** Affects: breezy-debian (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-crash focal ** Information type changed from Private to Public ** Also affects: breezy-debian (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1879925 Title: brz crashed with AttributeError in create(): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'initialize_on_transport' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/breezy/+bug/1879925/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
