The "initramfs decoding failed" message is a false positive message that is due to be fixed in the kernel. It is not related to any corruption.
You have also filed this bug against plymouth; plymouth is the component responsible for the boot splash screen and does not have anything to do with filesystem mounting and cannot be responsible for superblock corruption. If your filesystem is being corrupted then this is likely a kernel bug. I'll reassign this report to the kernel now for further triaging. ** Package changed: plymouth (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876539 Title: initramfs: decoding failed happend on boot, and the mounting failed too. This keeps happening on boot and causes the superblock to eventually be corrupted.
