There's no indication of this bug's ever being fixed. The workaround is always launching Gdebi through Terminal. Run-
sudo -i gedit /usr/share/applications/gdebi.desktop make it read:- [Desktop Entry] Name=GDebi Package Installer GenericName=Package Installer Comment=Install and view software packages Exec=sudo -i gdebi-gtk %f Icon=gnome-mime-application-x-deb Terminal=false Type=Application Categories=System; MimeType=application/vnd.debian.binary-package; NotShowIn=KDE; X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gdebi StartupNotify=true Keywords=package;apt;dpkg;install SAVE the file. Now try right-clicking a .deb and selecting "Open with > GDebi Package Installer" Thanks to user Mark-pcnetspec on bug #1760910 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1821810 Title: gdebi crashes when trying to install packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdebi/+bug/1821810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
