@hui.wang and @logix2 I'm on Linux MiX 5.3.0-46-generic without the workaround. It detects my card as: sof-skl_hda_car - sof-skl_hda_card
I had to run 'alsamixer' in the commandline, select 'capture' i.e. F4 and turn Mic Boost up and down. And.. The mic worked only once.
