I have been struggling with this problem for a week and have setup a multi boot so I can fight the problem while booting into the system under 7.04. I will be willing to follow anyone's suggestions.
I have found 2 strange things in my attempts. The login hangs before any text or text boxes appear. I do not have networking although it worked on the live cd.
