I've upgraded to this kernel successfully on several machines, both VM
and bare metal. That was using the c-k-t/proposed ppa though, and it
sounds like maybe you have all of proposed enabled. Are you able to
reproduce this reliably?

I can't find anything in the logs indicating a problem. I'll try the
upgrade with full -proposed enabled and see if that shows the same
issue.
