I've upgraded to this kernel successfully on several machines, both VM and bare metal. That was using the c-k-t/proposed ppa though, and it sounds like maybe you have all of proposed enabled. Are you able to reproduce this reliably?
I can't find anything in the logs indicating a problem. I'll try the upgrade with full -proposed enabled and see if that shows the same issue. ** Package changed: linux-5.4 (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866030 Title: Unable to install focal 5.4.0-17 proposed kernel, hang with update- initramfs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1866030/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
