Public bug reported:

When choosing the first Grub option to start Lubuntu, I immediately get
the error and it hangs:

[0:nnnnnn] pci: 0000:00:00.2 AMD-ViL Unable to write to IOMMU perf
counter.

    - Choosing the Grub option to "check disc for defects," results in
the same error/hang.

    - Choosing safe mode works (and is from which I submitted this bug
report)

Laptop: Acer Aspire 5 (A515-43-R19L, bios 1.06) with Ryzen 3 3200u
(Radeon Vega 3 gfx)

Note: This laptop has successfully installed 20 or so distros. In one
case using (Sparky Linux's dev/test ISO) it installed fine with the 5.3
kernel. But, when I performed the system update, it gave me kernel 5.4
which booted, but wouldn't startx. Choosing 5.3 from the Grub menu
booted fine again.
