I think D2 is an Universal Mass Storage device (UMS for short). It does have an MTP mode too if you need it. Having said that the UMS mode is probably clashing with the MTP mode. You might have to do some foo to disable the ums if you want mtp. Same thing happens with sansa devices. I've seen some people using rmmod usbcore; mtp-detect
