Here's the xorg.conf that is able to get it into 1600x1200, but only the second time. If I kill the server after kdm comes up, I will be in 1600x1200 after logging in.
Also, note that the fonts are huge--over 2 inches. I have a hack where I changed the resolution to something like 40 DPIK, but I can lo longer find that file. I'll attach the two X log files. The first one is the one I get at boot which can't do 1600xx1200.
