Public bug reported: [Impact]
We still don't know exactly what causes the boot hang to happen on this device, but latest eoan arm64 test images hang on the Pi3B+ when a regular USB keyboard is attached. As we're continuing to find the root cause, for now we decided that we'll be reverting the boot.scr changes to not block further work. The bug itself might be related to how ubuntu-image populates the boot partition. Still, the boot.scr changes were not needed in eoan, so it's safe to revert anyway. [Test Case] Build a test raspi3 image (armhf, arm64), flash various Pi devices and make sure they still boot. This change will be extensively tested by certification as well. [Regression Potential] As with any bootscript change, there might be subtle regressions regarding boot-ability in various edge scenarios. We will be performing extensive testing to make sure it does not regress. Also, this boot.scr that we're reverting to was already in use on the eoan original images, so it got a lot of testing on its own. ** Affects: flash-kernel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: flash-kernel (Ubuntu Eoan) Importance: Undecided Status: In Progress ** Also affects: flash-kernel (Ubuntu Eoan) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: flash-kernel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: flash-kernel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Changed in: flash-kernel (Ubuntu Eoan) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854347 Title: Boot hang on Pi3B+ arm64 images with the latest boot.scr To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flash-kernel/+bug/1854347/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
