Hi Basilio, No, I do not have desktop effects enabled. Unfortunately, scrolling is just too damn slow, and I'm not enough into eye-candy to suffer it.
I've upgraded to the latest ATI proprietary driver, which they're calling "7.11" (even though it's later than 8.42.3) and the problem persists. The attached files are from the (latest) 7.11 version.
