Ubuntu is shipping darkslide and overriding the shell entry point (calling "landslide" ends up calling darkslide). darkslide is broken with markdown3, and has been for over a year https://github.com/ionelmc/python-darkslide/issues/10 As far as I am concerned, darkslide is not currently usable with markdown under ubuntu, while landslide is.
