I tested this again with LO 6.3.2.2 installed on Ubuntu as a snap. Now font metrics are still mixed up in the main view while I am typing and permanently on the formula line. When I finish typing and press Enter, the main display shows the characters correctly. So part of the problem is fixed, part is remaining.
