I consulted with Sebastien on IRC, and we concluded that we will not backport libpinyin 2.3.0 to bionic and disco for now for the reasons stated above. Ubuntu 19.10, with version 2.3.0, will be released tomorrow, so users who want to do the transition will have the option to upgrade their Ubuntu version.
I also built libpinyin 2.3.0 for 18.04 and 19.04 in a PPA, in order to provide yet another option: https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/libpinyin -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1847021 Title: Cannot input Chinese if only "Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin)" is set To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus-libpinyin/+bug/1847021/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
