Public bug reported:
Dear Nautilus development and bug report staff, on a fresh Linux install I just used Arduino IDE and Matlab R2019b, then attached an external usb hard disk and my smartphone for a file transfer, and everything worked. The day after, the white nautilus folder icon on the left bar could not make me open the folders, I could do it just from the terminal. So I used: sudo dpkg-reconfigure --default-priority nautilus and everything seemed to be fine. The day after, the white folder icon was not working, and the folders that I put on the desktop disappeared. I then used: sudo apt-get purge nautilus then log off, then sudo apt-get install nautilus but nothing changed. What can I do to restore the GUI. Now I just can use the CLI. I have (through lsb_release -rd): Description: Ubuntu 19.04 Release: 19.04 and (through apt-cache policy nautilus: nautilus: Installato: 1:3.32.1-0ubuntu0.19.04.0 Candidato: 1:3.32.1-0ubuntu0.19.04.0 Tabella versione: *** 1:3.32.1-0ubuntu0.19.04.0 500 500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.32.0-0ubuntu2 500 500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main amd64 Packages I already looked for similar issues in Ask Ubuntu.
