It seems to work fine on Ubuntu using GNOME vanilla session. I don't know if it has been reported already to Carlos (I didn't know he was the maintainer), but I wonder if it's possible to fix the status of Desktop Icon on Ubuntu, since it doesn't seem to be possible to disable it.
