Public bug reported:

I installed the recent version ubuntu-7.10 on a Great Quality Desktop
powered by 1Giga Pro CPU with Power Management support including wak on
LAN and Wake on Alarm. I was able to shut the machine down with the
command when I had the very early version of Ubuntu. Now it just hangs
when the command is given.
