Same problem here. Only occurred since I upgraded to Gutsy (ubuntu 7.10 - not beta as far as I know). However, I did install xserver-xgl fairly soon after the upgrade to get desktop effects (but only to fix a problem with my Sticky Notes not hiding). I didn't (knowingly) have xserver installed under Feisty.
Running ATI restricted driver. Screen blanks after 10 mins.
