** Description changed: Binary package hint: apt , ubiquity see PNG file that i attach when installing when it gets to configuring apt (82%), If it cant get an list of updates when installing with No Internet, it removes All all download sources/repositories and update repositories/sources it should Never turn off the updates its done this in Ubuntu and Kbuntu 7.10 also the Network manager should always Look for an IP address from DHCP as i have to click offline and back to On-line to get it from 0.0.0.0 IP address some times when in side VMware i have tested inside an VMware box with network disconnected this bug has only happened in 7.10 not 7.04 and lower ----------------------------------------------------------------- i have now also tested this problem on an Live PC with the network cable Unplugged and it does the same thing i have marked this as an security vulnerability but its more it Can make an security vulnerability if the user does not know how to turn them back on thay never get updates (check for update says no new updates) ----------------------------------------------------------------- for users who do not know how to fix this until thay bring out ubuntu 7.10 1 - goto System > Admin > software sources + + goto System > Admin > software sources 1 Tick all box's apart form source code (do not think norm users need that) 2 Pick your Download From server location (as it picks main server by default click on search if you cant see one for you) 3 Goto updates and tick the first 2 options 4 [Optional] change the auto up date check to [Download all updates in background] (assuming you do not have an hard disk that is very small its an better option so your ready to install when you are ready just means you do not need to have to wait for them to download) do not recommend auto install with out confirmation as it may not wait for all updates to be install when shutting down the PC, as it make brake your box Kbuntu users Cick on the K bottem left > System (Not system setting) > Adept Package Manager > Adept > Manage Repositories do the same as above for steps 2 to 4 - 5 do not Close any error boxs that may that are related to Adept Package Manager untill All updates are done (unless the progress bar is no longer moveing)
