Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-desktop-environment
I will occasionally get this error message on my Gutsy install: There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon. The last error message was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. I have seen other similar bug reports. But, they seem to mostly refer to the Fiesty release and/or the status is listed as "Fix Released". I have gotten this error on two fresh installs of Gutsy with and without all updated packages. It seems to occur somewhat randomly and and reboot always seems to fix it.
