Hello, I have found a reason.
I use check_mk_agent with mk_apt plugin: https://mathias- kettner.de/cms_check_apt.html I ignored recommendation of the check-mk developers and installed the plugin without any interval: It is recommended to install this plugin with asynchronous execution and at an interval with at least one hour. As result, apt-get update -qq 2> /dev/null command ran every minute on my PC. I am not sure, but most likely this was trigger for update- notifier write a lot of data to disk. I added interval for mk_apt plugin and currently all OK. less than 10 MB during 3h. Thanks for your support! Have a nice week! ** Changed in: update-notifier (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1828634 Title: update-notifier runs too often on a Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/1828634/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
