Thank you. I don't know if you know anything about guitar but it sounds like a distortion pedal was activated. Overdriven sound. The volume was low and I was watching a YouTube video in firefox. It started the distorted sound in the middle of the video. I paused it then left. Came back about a half hour later hit play and it played fine. It has done this only twice. Again, thanks for the help and thanks for Ubuntu.
