Public bug reported: In the "Installation type" dialog, Ubiquity assumes the default installation drive (in my case sda) and bases all the information and options on that drive. If you choose "Erase disk and install Ubuntu", a warning pops up saying that sda will be erased.
Only in the next step do you actually get to choose which drive to install to. So, if you want to install to another hard drive or a USB thumb drive, you need to first erroneously confirm that you want to completely wipe your internal drive even though you have no intention of doing so. Pretty scary the first time you do it. My suggestion is that you get to choose installation drive before choosing installation type, or that the drive choice sits at the top of the Installation type dialog. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822476 Title: User asked whether to erase internal drive before choosing installation drive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1822476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
