Since Jan. 2019 Maxmind, the supplier for the geoip information needed
by xt_geoip, does not distribute the geoip information in the old (V1)
file format anymore. The geoip info is only available in the new (V2)
file format which also uses a different URL as V1. With that change the
following problems appeared:
- xt_geoip_dl cannot download the geoip information from the new URL.
- xt_geoip does not work properly anymore.
To my understanding, the problem has been fixed in the newest version
3.3 of xtables_addons. Please update the package and ship it with Ubuntu
18.04.
