This is NOT the case. On install Torrentflux will create the database and all needed tables for you, if you let it by selecting the "yes I want to allow dbconfig-common to setup the database" option. However, using this option does require that you also install the mysql-client package (which is in the Recommends). Of course you also need to have access to a mysql-server package somewhere (or install it on the same machine, it was in the Suggests, now it's in the Recommends). Any problems on install are usually related to not installing the recommended packages (or are bugs in dbconfig-common, not torrentflux).
