Public bug reported: By default, the smb.conf file in Ubuntu sets the name resolve order to: name resolve order = lmhosts host wins bcast However, this makes it impossible to access SMB hosts by hostname in Nautilus/GNOME in most home networks. Hosts can be accessed only by IP address. This problem can be fixed by changing the line to name resolve order = bcast This probably introduces problems for corporate setups, however.
