Not sure if it's the same, but I also experience a bug where the screen flickers when compiz is on. It's just a single screen-wide "blink" (to black) and is fairly rare. I have a fresh Gutsy install and an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS. I can provide more info if needed, or file a separate report if you think that's best.
