I had the same garbling problems with ATI Technologies Inc RC410 [Radeon
Xpress 200].

First I've tried the Open source driver... It work but not fine because
it was extremely brightness.

I've activated restricted drivers and then I have the same problem
(garbling) but everywhere (in desktop, when I scroll...). Then I see
this bug report and I'am going to take a snapshot with ksnapshot...
Impossible to do the snapshot because the snapshot was fine (without
garbling)... But Surprise! Now no more garbling!! All works fine!

Too weird for me... I don't understand nothing....

I atached my files an model:

 $ lspci  | grep VGA
 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RC410 [Radeon Xpress
200]
