You can choose arbitrary kernels by setting the SUPERMIN_* environment
variables.  See:

There's already a kernel inside 
http://libguestfs.org/download/builder/ubuntu-18.04.xz
but how would you access it without libguestfs?  And it wouldn't work
for non-Linux cases (we support Windows too).
