I performed these steps (on a bionic machine): - install openjdk-8-jre and freeplane - set JAVA_HOME to the jre-8 - run freeplane -> fails with java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError - wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/399333033/libknopflerfish-osgi-framework-java_6.1.1-2ubuntu0.1_all.deb - sudo dpkg -i libknopflerfish-osgi-framework-java_6.1.1-2ubuntu0.1_all.deb - run freeplane -> works
