Public bug reported: Please have ubiquity apply any updates to gnome-initial-setup (if available) before the first boot.
gnome-initial-setup provides the "Welcome to Ubuntu" experience introduced. in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. gnome-initial-setup is unique in that it the user only sees it the first time they log in. I think it's bad if we are unable to apply any fixes to the package without needing to create new ISOs. Other Info ---------- See LP: #1802337 which proposes installing security updates during the install. There may be some other packages we'd want to opt into applying then. Maybe there would be benefit to having the installer download a whitelist of package names to update then in case we had high priority updates that we thought should be applied before first login. Or if the other bug is implemented, we could ask Security to let us push these through the -security channel. It's a bit of an abuse though… ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Tags: disco -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1802340 Title: Please upgrade gnome-initial-setup before first boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1802340/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
