Public bug reported: I just upgraded from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 18.10 on a Windows 10 dual boot machine. The machine has a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU. I have tried to diagnose and fix the problem using prior posted solutions, such as video card issues with nomodeset(https://askubuntu.com/questions/162075/my-computer-boots-to-a -black-screen-what-options-do-i-have-to-fix-it and https://askubuntu.com/questions/1087559/cant-boot-ubuntu-properly-after- dual-boot-installation-with-windows-10) but this did not work, and the boot script no longer contains "quiet splash" anyways. Also in the boot script I set acpi = off but then I get another error, perhaps for another thread (PKCS#7 signature not signed with a trusted key), and the boot instead crashes on this error.
In recovery mode (4.18.0-10-generic) I tried running fsck but could not unmount the partition. I am using 97% of my bootloader partition so I ran recovery mode's clean but that also did not fix the issue. I am not sure what else I should try - I anxiously await and appreciate any further guidance you may have. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801522 Title: Ubuntu 18.10 boots into black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1801522/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
