It strange that you can't register - I had no problems at all (after I 
retrieved the confirmation mail from the GMail spam box where it got dropped, 
that is =) ).  

My kind of laptop has been on the market for at least a year now, so no - it's 
not that new.

I must admit that I have no idea what that "eapd" is... it was just one
of the first ones I tried that worked somewhat. (If I recall correctly
there are other models that also gives you speaker sound, but they are
just as broken as laptop-eapd otherwise. Yes, I actually tried them
all!).
