I confirm that this bug exist in Edgy and Feisty, but not in Gutsy which seems properly fixed and works exactly as expected with any ascii characters I've tested so far. Also note that Feisty doesn't accept 5 characters password but Edgy does.
Result of the test on Feisty : "Configured password" : "Password typed at login screen" = "Access granted or refused" pippoo : pippoo = Access granted pippoo : pippooàèìòù = Access granted pippoo : àpippoo = Access refused àpippoo : àpippoo = Access refused ( special case, look the attached screenshot ) àpippoo : pippoo = Access refused Note that sudo always work as expected, even when user password is set to pippooà, so this bug is clearly a GDM bug on the login screen. The password is properly saved but non-ascii characters aren't managed properly into the login screen. ** Attachment added: "Capture-1.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10284071/Capture-1.png -- Wrong password accepted in login window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41923 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
