Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

I used to have problems with enabling NVIDIA drivers using the nvidia-
glx package, when using the command

nvidia-settings enable

it seems to mee from the forums that many people had the same problem I
had, namely:

Error: your X configuration has been altered.
This script cannot proceed automatically. If you believe that this
not correct, you can update the md5sum entry executing the following
command:
md5sum /etc/X11/xorg.conf | sudo tee /var/lib/x11/xorg.conf.md5sum
otherwise edit manually /etc/X11/xorg.conf to change the Driver section
from nv to nvidia.

and if you do run the md5sum thing, it breaks your xorg.conf.

in the end, i went to a terminal and used

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

I thought that would be a problem to new users, but I quickly forgot it.
Today, however, cosmomolo brought it up on the forums again, and I think
I found a quick fix for it.

adding the -fgnome switch to dpkg-reconfigure gives you a gnome dialog
to configure the package - so is it possible to include the command

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg -fgnome

into the nvidia-glx package, so that it allows the user graphical
configuration?

ps: excuse me, I'm new to launchpad, so if I'm at the wrong place, please
kindly point me :-)
