a) select "Connect to server..." from the File menu of the Nautilus
File Browser.
b) from the popup select the type of connection you wish. I tried
both ftp and ssh as those are the access methods for the servers I use.
c) fill the numeric or symbolic ip address (got the same behavior
from both)
d) fill in any path and user information as appropriate (again I
tried with and without).
e) click on the appropriate button.

In past releases a connection was made to the server and a password
was requested if necessary. Then a File Browser window was displayed
with a listing of the files on the server.

Now it just fails silently. Absolutely nothing happens. No error
dialog, no timeout message, nothing. I did not try to go browsing
through the logs as I have no clue as to were nautilus might dump
things.

I could still connect to both ftp and ssh servers fine using ftp,
sftp and ssh from the terminal.
