This kernel is broken. I tried 2 things and the system wouldn't boot afterwards, I tried to use the terminal to upgrade to 18.04.1 from 16.04.4 and also tried just to update 16.04.4 to 16.04.5 using Synaptic. Both my attempts used this kernel: 4.15.0-33-generic.
