I had the same problem on Xubuntu-18.04 with midnight commander: Alt +
Shift + / worked as alt + / and changed keyboard layout. On
Xubuntu-16.04 everything worked fine out of the box. On 18.04 I changed
keyboard layout setting from system default to custom and used Left
Shift + Left Alt for layout change to fix the problem.
