Sorry it's still a problem in Ubuntu 18.04 and yes, I'm still interested in finding a solution.
I think "apport-collect 1455881" is not necessary. The problem is extremely easy to reproduce. I can understand that some people consider this as enhancement or feature but I think this is a bug.
