I cannot confirm ooimpress crashing during startup, with "Workarounds" enabled
in ccsm.
What Gnome theme are you using?
There is bug 131526, which causes crashes because of some themes. You can see
what theme you are using in "System / Preferences / Appearance" from the Gnome
toolbar. Please try, if using "Human" (the default theme) fixes this.
Please report back, if this is the cause of your problem(s).
