I just update my bios today to see if it would fix my issue, it fixed other things. ( quiet n cool, now working correctly )
in my case: 1: it seems like my harddrive was put to low powered mode or part of the IO sub system was put to sleep 2: programs needing to write to a file or open a new file stale 3. the system will seem to fully lock up. 4. I'll have to hard boot it I have the eye candy off, USB emulation ( bios settings ) only on for KB/MS, NV-GLX-NEW drivers active, I deleted all the apt-get cached files I reinstalled all of python, all of X.org, and gdm I used a boot disc and scanned my harddrive for issues, full media scan and no bad sectors or any issues. one user says this happens on 7.10 server too. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=585714&highlight=random+lockups -- not so random lockups on AMDx64 / clean install 7.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158542 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
