version (as of today, 5th of June 2018) and nstalled mainline kernel v4.17.

Hwinfo is also the latest stable version which comes from the official ubuntu
repo via "apt install hwinfo"

"sudo hwinfo --framebuffer" is working on Ubuntu 16.04 server. I started to
evaluate Ubuntu 18.04 server and found that this isn't working contrary to the
previous LTS.
I've even tried "sudo hwinfo --framebuffer --verbose", but still no output.
___
The previous kernel version is "uname -r" -> 4.4.0-116-generic on 16.04 LTS.
The mainline kernel version is "uname -r" -> 4.17.0-041700rc7-generic on 18.04
LTS
