I have clean installation of gutsy gibbon. version of vim package: 7.1-056+2ubuntu2 (gutsy)
Laptop: IBM Thinkpad Z60m, 2529-FKG model. Theme: I usually use silicon, but I checked it under human theme to the same result. Effects: effects are off. Video Card: ATI. It happens on both fglrx and ati drivers. As far as I can see this happens with any X and Y. I'll try to check this on my home desktop computer using gutsy livecd. And maybe on some other laptop also. Also I have 'cream' package installed. Can this be the reason? However, I checked this with cream uninstalled - to the same result.
