Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi

I just changed to gutsy on my Acer TravelMate 292LCi (BIOS v2.00
(latest)). It is a new installation, but i was using feisty on the same
hardware already.

Suspend/Resume used to work ok on this hardware, but sometimes i got a
notification message that there was a suspend problem. I also had to
restart the computer sometimes after resume because the network wouldn't
come back up properly again (and "sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart"
would not restore it).

After upgrading to gutsy, however, the computer won't even suspend any
more. The screen goes blank, then the fan goes up to full speed for a
while, but it never suspends completely. Then, when i reboot, my USB
keyboard will not work in grub. So i have to turn of the computer and
unplug the battery and AC adapter before i reconnect the power and
restart the computer.

I have discovered that the problem will be different if i kill skype
before i suspend the computer. If i do that, the computer will suspend
and resume. The problem is instead that the screen does not update
anymore. However, I can make the icons on my desktop visible if i move
the mouse over them.

Best regards,
Hans Elfberg
