Public bug reported:

I have a very good computer. Intel Core 2 Duo, 4gb RAM, GeForce 8600GT,
500gb disk, etc.

I am running Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.
I am using the Nvidia proprietary graphics card device drivers.

I have tried video playback in several media players, and have noticed that the
performance is poor.
If you just watch, it works pretty decently, but if you want to skip in the
movie it doesn't work good.

I don't know why it is like this, but I suspect this may be a problem
with the device drivers.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
