Public bug reported: In the netboot tar file downloaded from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/netboot.tar.gz the file './ubuntu-installer/amd64/linux' has file permissions 600.
In the previous Ubuntu releases the 'linux' file has permissions 644. Also, the 'linux' file in the 32-bit-version tar file for Ubuntu 18.04 has file permissions 644. The file permissions 600 causes that a pxe installation fails if using the tftpd-hpa package with the default configuration. The process is run as user tftp which has no read permission for the 'linux' file. Please change permissions to 644 for './ubuntu-installer/amd64/linux' in the netboot tar file. ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1768643 Title: Wrong read permission for 'linux' file in ubuntu 18.04 netboot tar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1768643/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
