Hello, I am also getting this issue. Ubuntu 7.10 works fine. Except I don't get any loading bar (blank screen), until the login screen. When I restart the X server (ctrl alt return) I get a blank screen and sometimes symbols (like the pound symbol and more), and when I turn the computer off I don't get the logout sound, nor the unload bar.
