Your user isn't in the LXD group. You can add it with "adduser USERNAME
lxd", after which the newgrp command will work fine. To have it apply to
all your user's shell, logout and back in or restart the system.

If that's too much trouble for now, you can just run the LXD commands as
the root user through sudo.
